It’s Father’s Day this Sunday in the US (June 21st). While I have always honored mothers with the “mothers with style series” on the blog, I haven’t really done much for the fathers. So this year, I am changing that.
I find men’s style really fascinating. Unlike women’s style, there are not a lot of options for men. Hence, men need a lot more creativity to put together a great outfit. Being able to pair items that are not typically worn together goes a long way in creating a great look. Also, being able to play with accessories to give an ordinary outfit the extra spice it needs is so important when putting together a great outfit.
Today, I am featuring a guy who I believe has been able to master the art of putting great outfits together, effortlessly. His ability to pair unusual pieces together is really impressive. Here is the first look he put together for the Fathers’ photoshoot. You can follow him on instagram @stylinmode for more style inspiration.
I love this look, especially the bow tie paired with the bow lapel pin, I call it the double bow! I asked him to describe his choices for this particular look and here is what he had to say:
My choices in this look are driven by fabrics, visual effects, and tailoring. Not a slave to any brand!
I love the relaxed look of the suit. I went with the plain shirt because it gives a perfect contrast to the blue lines on the suit fabric. Also, the plain shirt allows for the bow tie to stand out. In any outfit, you have to decide what item you want to highlight.
Notice the no sock look? Yes it’s perfect for the summer! Try it….u’ll like it. Just do it with the right shoes. A double monk is a must have for any fashionable man. Ladies (*hint hint*) here is a perfect Fathers’ Day gift.
The Daniel Wellington is a pretty affordable watch, but it’s a classic. I like the watch, not because of its popularity, but because of it’s minimalist design. It’s light weight also allows it to go with anything. This would make another great Father’s day gift. My wife bought me this for Father’s day last year (I think).
Some men may be too macho to rock bracelets but they are a must have for me lol. The right amount always adds to the look.
Scotch&Soda did an amazing job on the design and tailoring of the tie. Not your average bowtie, and it’s definitely a winner. It is a little pricey, but worth every penny.
Oh the lapel pin, well it’s just extra flavor….call it “the icing on the cake.”
Bonus tip: Every man needs to have a tailor they can go to for every tailoring need. I have two! Yes two, depending on the work I need done. It’s not enough to buy a suit, you’ve got to make sure it fits. That’s the difference maker.
Hope you enjoyed this post, I will be posting some more looks tomorrow so stay tuned!
